About Troy Centazzo
Troy has over a decade of experience in the cremation and funeral industry. He co-founded Premier Funeral Management Group in 2013, which partnered with eight funeral home businesses, overseeing a total of 16 locations across the country, and served as its president until 2017. Over his years of working closely with families and service providers, one thing became very apparent: the funeral industry’s foundation rests on antiquated ideals and an out-of-touch set of principles that are far removed from the current needs of today’s families. Old-fashioned funeral homes—and the people who run them, generally lack the agility and flexibility to modernize their approach. In 2020, Troy and his wife, Jen, founded Opal Cremation in order to offer affordable services and compassionate care for families throughout Southern California. As the CEO of Opal, Troy also spends much of his time providing direct care and support to families in both pre-need and at-need capacities. Troy currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
Education:
Troy received his Bachelor’s degree from Brown University, with honors and served as class co-president. He went on to get his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law while also achieving an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Funeral Industry:
Troy is a licensed Funeral Director in the State of California, and a member of the NFDA (National Funeral Directors Association). Opal Cremation currently has 3 locations across Southern California in El Segundo, Carlsbad, and Costa Mesa.
